![]() "When we introduced the Mustang line back in 2944, our aim was to reshape the dream of spaceflight. In 2950 the Nomad officially debued at the 2950 Intergalactic Aerospace Expo, becoming available for purchase the same day it was announced. One of the largest reasons for the price increase was due to the hover technology needed to be developed to sustain the exterior cargo hull. ![]() By the time to Nomad prototype was completed, its cost was closer to that of a million credits (still a significant amount below that of the Constellation). One of the few surviving features of the shift from the MANTA to the Nomad was that of the exterior cargo hold. Roland, which caused significant delays in the project coming to fruition. This and other changes led to the resignation of Dr. Soon after Koerner's increase in interest in the ship, he would introduce more changes, opting for a single-seat transporter over a multi-crew ship. His first change, the name favoring that of Nomad, giving those interested in the ship the idea that they were able to strike out on their own. However, shortly after the launch of the Mustang, Koerner would become more involved with the development process. One signficant cost-saving measure was an exposed cargo bay, akin to industrial haulers, rather than a more costly contained cargo hold. Additionally, coming in at a cool 750,00UEC, the Koerner's vision of low-cost competitor was in sight. īy 2944, the plan was that MANTA would be a large multi-crew ship built with off-the-shelf-components and requiring only its small central cabin to have any real construction take place. The ship was meant to be the first step in a subsidiary of Consolidated Outland that focused on rental spacecraft. Charlotte Roland, the original vision of the Nomad was that of competitor to the Roberts Space Industries Constellation spacecraft. Originally under the name MANTA (Multi-crew Accessible New Transport), and being led by Dr. Development on the Nomad began in 2942, two full years before the release of the Mustang.
